New Cork Maritime Collection Exhibition to Open
Posted 8 June 2012 by Margot MulcahyA brand new maritime exhibition at the Sirius Arts Centre will be open to the public from Saturday, 9th June. The Maritime Paintings and Models are from the Port of Cork’s collection and their home is at the Port of Cork Company’s headquarters at Custom House in the City.
The collections dates from the 1800’s and among the collection are works of art by renowned maritime painters George Mounsey Wheatley Atkinson and Robert Lowe Stopford. These magnificent views of Cobh and Cork Harbour activities give a real vision of a previous era and times gone by.
The Port of Cork, Crawford Art Gallery and Peter Murray are supporting this exhibition.
Gallery hours Wed – Fri 11Am -1pm and 2pm – 5pm/Sat & Sun 2pm – 5pm/Mon& Tues Closed.
Exhibition will run until Sunday 22 July
